IMAGINE - Building Project
Our children and youth are gifts entrusted to us for a very short time. This is not an easy culture in which to raise Christian children. Capitalism is a tremendous engine of economic growth, but it also devours traditions and religious communities. Therefore, we know that we need to maintain strong children’s ministries and youth programming to prepare our children for life in this society.
Likewise, if faith in this society is no longer in the air we breathe and the water we drink, then adults, even those who have been in the church for a long time, need continual discipleship. Adults have different learning styles. They are in different places in their spiritual journeys. One size does not fit all. Therefore, we know that we need to provide varied educational experiences for our adults.
Unfortunately for Third Reformed Church, space was limiting our ability to fulfill both of the preceding statements. Yet expansion due to a lack of space is not a good enough reason to initiate a building project. Especially for a church, one must consider whether the cost of the project will add to the mission.
To help guide us, we “Imagined” how God could use a building to glorify Him. We were able to understand how important it was to both increase the church’s space but also to use our current space in more effective ways. With this in mind, we developed a plan that constructed a new education wing and renovated much of the existing building. This project has allowed the church to build more space for education programs, to create more open meeting spaces to build community, and to incorporate technologies that move the church into the 21st Century.
One can only begin to IMAGINE the possibilities of how the church will use this space in the years to come to Glorify God.
